| HELPFUL HINT When you are designing an ad with black text, make sure to have your Graphic Artist set the color to "Flat Black." Our directories are printed using CMYK. This process uses four plates: a Cyan plate, a Magenta plate, a Yellow plate, and a blacK plate. All of the colors we print use combinations of these plates. Flat Black is black text that has 0% Cyan, 0% Magenta, 0% Yellow, 100% blacK. Four Color Black is a black that has some Cyan, some Magenta, and some Yellow, as well as 100% blacK. If your graphic artist uses Four Color Black for black text, it is possible the text may look blurry or fuzzy. This happens because those four plates cannot stay exactly aligned during the printing process. When they shift, it is noticeable on black text, and the smaller the text the more noticeable it will be. |
